Reinventing your life

The lotus arises out of the mud ~ reinvent your life like the lotus.
Reinventing your life!
Many high achieving baby boomers are feeling burnt out! The prestige and security of corporate jobs no longer have the lure they once had.
Now, many mid lifers are reinventing their lives.
How do you reinvent your life? By discovering and embracing your Inner Genius.
Statistics show that more than half of Americans across all income brackets are dissatisfied with their jobs today, according to the Conference Board, a business research group. This is up from 39 percent in 1987. Everyone is looking for fulfillment and job satisfaction but they are not getting it where they once had it.
These days, many mid-lifers in large corporations do not feel relevant in their jobs. With all the layoffs happening, more and more people are feeling very dissatisfied.
As a result, many people are focused on reinventing their lives.
“How do I reinvent my life?” is one of the most popular questions in my mailbox.
Well, you do not have to divorce your spouse and fly away to Alaska or Timbuktu just to experience the feelings associated with reinventing your life.
Here are some simple steps. Keep a journal and answer these questions in the journal. Over the following weeks, I will address each of these questions in this blog.
Start out by keeping a list of the following:
1. Take stock of what you are good at. Making a list of the things you are good at is just plain good practice. We really do not take the time to praise ourselves. Many times, we overlook our own attributes.
2. Take stock of what you enjoy doing. For many people, there is a big disconnect between what you are good at and what you enjoy doing. Get very clear on the difference for yourself.
3. In what ways are you creative? We are creative in more ways than we can imagine. When you cook and garden, you are being creative.
4. In which ways do you express your creativity? Creativity is an expression of “your own unique planetary imprint.” That is why, it is important to express it.
5. What is the vision you hold of your life? Every life is worthy of a clear vision. Your vision becomes the site map of your life. You can always go back and recalibrate based on your vision. You can alter your vision as life changes happen. However, keeping this focus in place is a critical point for reinventing your life.
6. What does freedom look like to you? As humans, all of us value freedom. Yet, we schedule it right out of our lives. How important is freedom to you?
7. What is important to you? Ask yourself this simple but powerful question several times during the day and you will find a lot of powerful information in the answers that will indeed help you reinvent your life.
As you ask yourself these questions, you will find yourself finding a lot of clues in your answers.

I can so identify with this. After a change in all of my significant relationships, losing my husband in divorce, my mother in death, moving from all of my closest friends for a fresh start I feel as if I am being reborn. There is some uncomfortableness and at the same time there is excitement. I love the story of the Lotus and how it blooms daily emerging from the mud. Thank you for sharing this story on your blog. Having read your other blog posts, I know what a great story teller you are.
You are like a breath of fresh air. Thank you. I wanted you to speak with a friend of mine about grief too. Want to have you on the Chocolate Pages show. Where’s the book!?
Clearly one needs to examine current circumstances and lllk for ways and means to make long strides in self improvement and personal develepoment. MONEY IS IMPORTANT. The more you can aquire the more choices you will have to improve your life.
Having an abundance is power, with power come responsiblity. I salute Coach Iyabo, in that she is willing to help others. Commiting a lot of time and knowledge. Taking into considerating my age, and my abundance I am ready to reange my life to be able to help more people and enjoy the remaining years. God Bless you all.
Cecil, thank you for joining me here and sharing your genius with this community. You are much appreciated. Indeed you are an abundant man.
This is beautiful. I love all the points you make here and some just blew me away. Like distinguishing between what we are GOOD AT and what we ENJOY. That is huge one that I’ve seen and dealt with much of my life. Very few people have understood me when I would tell them that just because I’m good at something does NOT mean I enjoy it. People will often go so far as to try and shame me by saying, “You should consider yourself blessed. And if you are good at it you should DO it.” WOW! I tell them there are no “shoulds” Life is meant to be enjoyed. LOL!!
I also love the question: What does freedom look like to you? Now that is a powerful question that really made me think. Thank you for such an excellent post.
Robin Easton´s last blog ..The Power of Our Beliefs
Welcome Robin! I enjoy your awesome blog. Thank you for coming by. Absolutely, your life is meant to be enjoyed. I am very good about going to the bathroom and showering that does not mean that I should make a life out of that. You owe it to the planet to live at that high vibrational level of loving what you do and doing what you love!
Big hugs!
Iyabo

Each time i open your mail i see flowers, what do they represent?
The Lotus flower is my logo. This is the quintessential image of reinvention.
The pure white Lotus flower is the only plant to fruit and flower simultaneously.
It emerges from the depth of the muddy swamp and rises above the water with a stalk
that is easy to bend in two but almost impossible to break because of its many strong
sinuous fibers.
At night, the flower closes and sinks underwater and at dawn, it rises and opens again.
The Lotus is particularly special because of its ability to lie dormant in times of drought
and blossom when ideal conditions return to give it life.
Recent research found 1200-year-old seeds in China that have germinated and bloomed
when conditions were favorable.
