My Heart On Haiti – How To Leverage Your Energy To Support Haiti
On a personal note, I have some stuff going on and I remembered why I became a coach. I decided to share so you can see my heart. I firmly believe as a coach that I choose to walk my talk.
What I have discovered is that when I am going through something, I want to process it fully and completely because my clients are going to start showing up with the same energy and will seek out some solutions from me.
So here goes….
Yesterday, I taught a class. Earlier in the day, as I put together the finishing touches for the material for the class, I was not feeling it. It did not feel solid. It did not feel awesome. I did not feel that it was already connecting with my learners in the class. This is in the afternoon that I was feeling this way. So I would pull away from the material periodically and I try and reconnect energetically before moving forward. Well for whatever reason, I got it together but it did not feel as solid and grounded as I would like to to feel before a class. I could not figure out what was going on. Well, I had a good class. The feedback was good but I could not shake how my energy felt misaligned.
I checked in with my husband several times and he felt down too but we could not figure out what was going on.
Well, as it turns out, we had not watched the news in a couple of days and I really had not been on Twitter and so when I talked to my sister in the evening, she was so upset. She told me about the earthquake in Haiti. She has several Haitian friends and she was very disturbed by the loss of lives and the agony of suffering that the Haitians and the rest of the world is going through.
Immediately, my mind went to Gregg Braden and all his videos and audios that I have listened to. He talked about 9/11/01 when the World Trade Center Buildings collapsed and how it affected the electromagnetic field of the earth as millions of people were grieving simultaneously. I believe that I had “down” energy yesterday and I could not shake it because it was beyond me. I believe that my energy was tied into the energy of the rest of the world and energetically, I “knew” something had happened and it was big.
I have since watched some of the footage and truly, it is tragic.
I do believe in God. I believe in a Divine Intelligence that governs the Universe and knows the big picture. I do believe that we are indeed spiritual beings having a physical experience and I believe we ourselves have that Divine Intelligence in each of us. I believe we are all connected.
I do want to ask God a couple of questions here: “Why?” “What is the purpose of this?”
However, the words of my God mother, who is also a Christian Minister, are ringing in my ears. She has been very sick all of her life and now at 65, she had open heart surgery recently. She said she never asked God, “Why me?” She just believed she had the faith to face any challenge.
So, I try not to focus on the “why” although I am tickled pink with my awareness about my energy being such an accurate indicator of the world around me.
Since I heard about the earthquake, I have enjoyed bringing the strength of my energy to the faces I see on TV and in my imagination.
So please join me. As I got aware, I got deliberate about how I want my energy to contribute to this situation. This is the choice that I have made.
I hold each of the people that are alive in Haiti in a space of compassion and love. I bring healing energy to them. Soothing energy. Consolation energy. Empathy energy. Compassion energy. I touch them on the head. I hold them close to my chest. I help relieve their pain. I put my energetic arms around the entire country and the people that are there to help and I support them energetically. I choose to be a support to them in my heart and with my wallet. I open my heart up and allow the energy of love to bring its powerful healing effect to that situation. I bring the energy of support and love to assist the survivors through this challenge.
Every time I think of Haiti, this is my emotional, energetic and mental practice.
I have also followed up with action and donation.
I am a firm believer that my energetic response is even more important than my money donation and the money donation is critically important as well.
I have followed the work of Dr. Farmer and Partners in Health and Haiti has been a focus of theirs for many, many years. Please donate to them.
In addition, Dr. Mani, a wonderful heart surgeon and social entrepreneur with much compassion and wisdom has endorsed Frank Mckinney who has also done work in Haiti. Please contribute and spread the word.
Now, that is how you take inspired action.
Give with the intention that your contribution gives relief and comfort, safety and consolation. Give with the intention that your gift empowers others and brings dignity to their lives.
Please join your positive healing energy with mine and leave a comment. Please tell others about this post. This is one post that I ask you to retweet as much as possible as I believe we all want to get our energy lined up.

Thanks for sharing this Iyabo .. I think we’ve all been feeling a little shell shocked and off kilter – and if you are intuitive or empathic, even more so. Everyone I know is helping in whatever way they can – financially, donations, and prayers.
I want to thank you for also mentioning Frank McKinney – he’s quite a SoFla character – with a heart of gold. I love this video he posted talking about rescue efforts. http://frank-mckinney.com/franks_emergency_earthquake_relief.html
Bless You.

Thank you, Iyabo, for a powerful post. Likewise, I had little idea what was going on in Haiti until today, as I do not watch or listen to the news. How amazing how much we are collectively affected by both tragedy and joy, and how each of us can energetically comfort and heal others through our intentions, our words, and our wallets.

I love this post, Iyabo! In such a time of complete devastation in Haiti, I think it is important for people everywhere to remember that we are all connected… and therefore, our prayers and positive energy really do help! Donations are obviously also great, and we should all contribute as we can, but just holding space for the people of Haiti in our hearts and sending them love, compassion, and healing energy can do wonders!!
Thanks for this post:)
I so appreciate your coming by and retweeting it. We indeed are all connected.
Big hugs,
Iyabo
In htis time when all our hearts are heavy from the suffering in Haiti this piece was very uplifting. Thanks for thinking of all of us who are out here praying hard for the people of Haiti.
I did not know what was going on in Haiti but found out from friends who have relatives there. Devastation has hit my home island so I know the feelings that one goes through. I am in agreement with what SelfHelpGoddess says and done that…
Thanks Christina. I appreciate your stopping by.
Thank you Jackee. I appreciate your positive energy here.
Thank you Iyabo. I was also unaware of the happenings on that day and felt ‘off’. I agree with you that it is wonderful to be so connected that you don’t need to watch the news to know what’s going on in the world just through your feelings.
And I love the message you are sending out – how to help!
Thank you Annette! I love when you drop by.
I agree, Iyabo, and so glad you got this conversation started!
I’ve been asking folks to join me in *seeing* and *feeling* Haiti whole, recovering, and full of hope…rather than seeing only the devastation and focusing all our attention there.
I hope that after all the disasters, including Katrina and the Asian Tsunami, we’ve learned that focusing on the negative doesn’t support those who are seeking to rise above it.
Many blessings,
Nancy
