What Type of Online Marketing Appeals To You?

Online Marketing Stress!

I ask this question from you as a consumer. As a coach, I create classes, products and opportunities for current and potential clients. However, I do not enjoy doing a lot of what I have learned about marketing and I want to change it.

I have gotten a formal education in online marketing. I have taken the classes. I have attended the live events. Although, I must say, it took me some time to realize that I am a marketer regardless of what I am selling online in terms of services or products.

As I ask you for your input, please understand I am not trying to manipulate you or learn how to make you buy from me. Not at all. I am using this venue as a safe place to find out if I am the one missing the boat.

My general principle of marketing is that I put myself out there, care about people and build relationships first. And I do that.  Within my established community, with the folks that know me and get my newsletters and listen to my audios, I do very well with them buying from me.

However, I would like to expand my reach to new people in a way that meets their needs and is easy and natural for me.   I use social media. I know how to network and make connections with new people. Yet, I feel a discord between my networking efforts and my business expansion. Many coaches are finding it increasingly difficult to do this, so they keep investing more money into traditional sales methods.

Traditional online marketing says:

~Create a long sales page. Mention the price five times. Do not give away any of your secrets. Use magnetic words. Use five testimonials.

~Tweet about it five times a day. Or more.

~Market the heck out of your sales page on all the social networking sites.

~Do a preview call. Only 10 percent of the people that are exposed to your message will  attend the preview call. Only another 10 percent of the show ups will sign up for the preview call. They have to sign up just to get the phone number of the preview call. Email them numerous times to remind them of the call, and the recording and to sign up for the program, event, etc.

~Email your list every day to remind them to buy from you.

Truly, I hate all of the above and I know hate is a strong word. If feels very calculated and disrespectful to me. I do not like when it is done to me so I do not do it to others. I do not see where I am truly honoring myself and my prospects in all of the above.

I do like putting together a sales page that is informative but I do not want to follow all these rules as they do not resonate with me.  I believe that the consumer is smart and intelligent and I do not have to play games to get them to buy.

Please give me tidbits of what works for you when you buy an online product, class or services.

~What does an online marketer have to display or express that gets your attention?

~What turns you off?

~What turns you on?

~What sales methods create relationship for you?

~Do those sales calls help you make a decision to buy?

~Do those long sales letters prompt you to buy?

Your answers do not have to be limited to coaching, it could be for anything that you buy online. Thank you so much for educating me on this process.
